The continuous tablet press machine is used to compress powdered or granular raw materials into sheets, tablets, or pellets. Its working principle is based on high pressure applied between two or more molds to compact the material into shape, followed by continuous production through mechanical or automated systems. Compared to batch-type tablet presses, the continuous tablet press machine offers the advantage of uninterrupted production, increasing efficiency, reducing manual intervention, and meeting large-scale production demands.
The CY-DPC-B500-400 continuous tablet press machine is primarily used for continuous roll pressing of lithium-ion battery electrode materials. It presses the battery electrodes to the required density and thickness, with the finished product being wound by a coiling mechanism. The equipment achieves good uniformity both transversely and longitudinally during rolling, and the appearance of the rolled product is of high quality.
Suitable for lithium battery slurry systems: Oil-based or water-based lithium iron phosphate, oil-based lithium cobalt oxide, lithium manganese oxide, ternary materials, high-nickel ternary, and supercapacitor coating processes for continuous roll pressing of battery electrodes.
The device is constructed with a 45# steel frame cast in a "mouth" shape for great press force and high rolling speed.
Features an electric boost system, operated via the screen, to adjust the gap between rollers by controlling the height of the lower roller.
Tension for unwinding and winding can be independently set and controlled.
Constant pressure automatic control, with pressure and rolling force adjustable via the human-machine interface, ensuring stable pressure and uniform rolling.

Pharmaceutical Industry: Used to produce tablets and health supplements, ensuring uniformity and high quality in tablets. The continuous tablet press machine can be used for the compression, granulation, and coating processes of pharmaceuticals.
Food Industry: Suitable for producing nutritional tablets, candies, biscuits, etc., with excellent production efficiency and hygiene standards.
Chemical Industry: Used for compressing fertilizers, pesticides, additives, etc., ensuring product consistency and efficient production.
Battery Industry: Used for compressing the positive and negative electrode materials of lithium batteries, ensuring uniformity and compaction, thus improving battery performance.
Mining and Metal Powder Industry: Used for compressing mineral or metal powders to produce small metal sheets, magnetic materials, etc.
Application Case: 《Using a Precision Roll Press to Manufacture Battery Electrodes》
Process Steps:
1. Prepare Raw Materials:
First, prepare the raw materials for the positive and negative electrodes, including:
Positive materials (such as lithium cobalt oxide, ternary materials, etc.)
Negative materials (such as graphite, silicon, etc.)
Conductive materials (such as ultrafine carbon black)
Binders (such as polyvinylidene fluoride PVDF)
Solvents (such as NMP solvent) These materials must be mixed according to the formula and, with the help of solvents, form a uniform slurry.
2. Prepare Slurry:
Mix the positive and negative materials (including active materials, conductive agents, binders, etc.) with solvents and use high shear stirring and grinding to make a homogeneous slurry. The viscosity and particle distribution of the slurry are key factors affecting the subsequent coating and tablet pressing quality, so the slurry preparation process must be precisely controlled.
3. Coat onto Substrate:
Coat the prepared slurry evenly onto a metal substrate (usually aluminum foil for the positive electrode, copper foil for the negative electrode) using coating equipment to form the electrode slurry layer. During the coating process, it is crucial to control the coating thickness and uniformity to ensure good adhesion to the substrate, preventing bubbles or unevenness.
4. Drying:
After coating, the electrode material must be dried to remove the solvent, ensuring the stability and bonding strength of the electrode material. Drying temperature and time should be set according to the solvent type and substrate characteristics, typically using infrared heating or hot air drying.
5. Continuous Tablet Pressing and Shaping:
After drying, the electrode material is sent to the continuous tablet press machine for compression shaping. The continuous tablet press machine applies high pressure with upper and lower rollers, compressing the material evenly into sheets, controlling the thickness, density, and surface smoothness of the product.
5. Cutting and Trimming:
After continuous pressing, the electrode sheets may need to be cut according to the battery design specifications. The cut electrode sheets may also require trimming to remove excess edges or irregular parts, ensuring precision and consistency for battery assembly.
6. Inspection and Quality Control:
The pressed electrode sheets undergo strict quality checks for dimensions, thickness, uniformity, density, and mechanical strength. The electrode sheets must also meet the compaction requirements to ensure the performance of lithium batteries. Qualified electrode sheets proceed to the next production process.
7. Assembly and Post-Processing:
After cutting, the electrode sheets are stacked, wound, or layered according to the battery design requirements, followed by the addition of electrolyte and separators for battery packaging and assembly. Additionally, the electrode sheets may undergo some post-processing, such as drying and pretreatment, before use to ensure battery stability and performance.
Conclusion:
The process of producing lithium-ion battery electrode materials with a continuous tablet press machine requires strict control of each step, especially in slurry uniformity, coating thickness, drying, and compression. Any deviation in these processes can affect the final performance of the battery. The continuous tablet press machine provides an efficient, stable pressing process suitable for large-scale production, helping to improve the density and uniformity of the electrode sheets, thereby enhancing the overall performance and reliability of lithium batteries.
